02 Why Ashton

One tow. No transload.

Our hopper barges were built to the optimal size for river-system shipping, so cargo that starts on the Great Lakes can reach the rivers without being handled twice.

One barge · one spot in a river tow · no transload

— 01

Sized for the river system

Two ABS Great Lakes hopper barges at 200′ × 35′ take a single spot in a river tow.

— 02

Covered, below-deck capacity

Up to 1,900 tons each and 3,800 tons combined, kept dry — agricultural, aggregates, finished steel and project cargo.

— 03

Room for oversized loads

Access to 240′ × 60′ flat deck barges rated 3,600 NT for above-deck cargo, including roll-on/roll-off for heavy haulers.
